Welcome to our Year 5 Classes

My name is Miss Argent and I’m very excited to be teaching in Komodo Dragons class this year. I believe that learning should be fun, so I am looking forward to an exciting year of learning. My favourite subjects are Music, Art and English. In my spare time I can usually be found curled up with a book, walking my 3 dogs and spending time with my family. I am a huge lover of sunsets and the night sky, something about them makes me feel relaxed and peaceful. I love all animals, but particularly dogs and snakes – I have a few in my collection.
My name is Miss Meade and I’m really excited to be the teacher of Wolves class this year. My favourite subject is English and I love reading so much that my house is like a library with books everywhere! I like writing stories and poems, and love learning about the past, especially all things Victorian! I also love animals and have lots of lovely pets at home who I enjoy spending time with and looking after. I like dark, rainy days and cold weather, and enjoy listening to a variety of music in my spare time. I’m really looking forward to getting to know you all this year and creating lots of exciting learning opportunities for us all to enjoy!
PE Days:
Our PE day is Wednesday afternoon. Please ensure that your child has the correct PE Kit, which can be found on our Uniform Page.

We ensure to follow the national curriculum for the primary curriculum in England for programmes of study and attainment targets for KS2.

We look forward to welcoming you into Komodo Dragons’ and Wolves’ Class!

Timetable

Our timetable can be downloaded below. Here, parents and pupils have the opportunity to view the class schedule to see the day-to-day routine including the range of curriculum that is covered. We have found that children with SEND have responded well to visually seeing the structure of the day ahead.

Terms/Topic Information

At Holy Trinity C of E Nursery and Primary School, we utilise the Cornerstones scheme of work. Parents will receive a Curriculum Booklet and Knowledge Organiser at the start of each term informing them about what the children will be learning. This will also be available below to download.

More Information about the subjects can be found on our curriculum pages.

Home Learning

Year 5 are expected to read at home daily, this should be recorded in their reading record book. The more books read the more Accelerated Reader quizzes can be completed at school. Each quiz carries a number of points that increase in value when 60% or more questions are answered correctly. 5 points earn a certificate.

Our basic knowledge will focus on doubling and halving, and our weekly spellings. Maths work is stuck into homework books so that it can be continued at home, or if it is a game we have been playing parents can play the maths game at home as well. Maths homework is set using Freckle online and changes each Friday. Please ask for a new login if it has got lost.

Paper-based homework is given out in the form of spelling every Friday afternoon on a look, cover, say, write sheet for children to learn at home and a comprehension exercise each Monday.
